Practice - Focusing
Homework
Focusing on the moment:
✅ Download a Pomodoro app (see Additional Resources section).
✅ Use the Pomodoro app at least once a day to turn it into a habit.
✅ Declutter your learning environment now, and before your learning sessions.
✅ If using a computer, shut down everything that isn't absolutely necessary for your learning.
✅ Turn off all notifications on all your devices.
✅ If you can't control yourself using apps and opening other tabs, use an app to block usage of other apps. You can do that using RescueTime, for example.
Preparations for focusing in general:
✅ List down all your active projects. Note how much time you spend on each and how valuable they are towards your goals. For a month-long period, focus on three to five at most.
✅ Schedule your next Think Day
✅ Brainstorm your lists of:
Skills — things you do well;
Hobbies — things that occupy your time;
Passions — things you do for fun without external incentives;
Talents — things you learn fast;
Loved ones — people you care about;
Moments of happiness — key moments of your life or recurring events;
Moments of sadness — key moments of your life or recurring events;
Personality traits — things that define you as a person; and
Values (if you know them) — things you strongly believe in.
