I used to review people’s Medium articles to help them have more success on Medium. I recently stopped doing that to focus on other projects, but I thought it would be useful if I shared some unexpected tips with everyone:
(I intentionally kept this article very short. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments)
Join and participate in the Medium Mastery Facebook group
Join and participate in the Medium Partner Program Friends Facebook group
Make friends with other writers, including the top writers
Use PenSignal.com
Become a top writer in a tag by consistently using that tag
Post on Hacker News and get people to upvote
Email Medium to ask for curation if your great article didn’t get curated
Always seek brutally honest feedback
Ace headlines and images
Articles of 9+ minutes have better overall stats (not read ratio)
Try to become the reference in one topic (for me it’s Skill Development and Education)
Mention people (like this: Danny Forest) and link to their stories
Be consistent. Publish at least once a week.
Use your personal stories as a driver, not as the subject
If you’re ready to self-publish a book, you have to watch this incredibly insightful interview I did with Jordan “J” Gross. He shows us how to become a best seller and get thousands of readers to get your book.
And check out SkillUp Academy for training videos from experts on a variety of skills, including Writing.
